[ MKT327 Landing Pages ]

I took MKT 372: Digital Marketing course during the Spring 2022 semester, and it was one of my favorite courses that I took at McCombs. For one of our projects, we were tasked with redesigning the website for a brand we felt needed a digital makeover. I chose Sugar Me Smooth, a brand that I got many great Instagram ads for, but with an objectively not-so-great website, which turned me off from buying their product. I also designed the landing page for our final group project, where we created a digital marketing campaign for a local brand in Austin. My group chose Lick Honest Ice Creams, and we had a lot of fun with the project.

Although the Sugar Me Smooth website has improved since I completed this project, you can see that the page still has room for improvement. They don’t have a strong brand identity, as the colors and fonts on the webpage seem very simple and generic. For my redesign, I used copy and images from from the site, but I chose colors, fonts, and layouts that looked classy and were easier to navigate. The olive green tones are soothing, for a body care brand, and I chose a font that matches the vibe of their logo font. The three pages I redesigned are the home page, the Scrub Club page, and the How-To page (I really wish I had screenshots of what the old pages looked like…).

The biggest problem with the Lick website when we completed our project was a lack of CTA. It looks like they now added a place to sign up for their Club, which puts customers on their contact list. On my version of their landing page, I used similar colors to keep the fun, bright vibe, but I used fonts and layouts that looked more clean and professional. For this site, I redesigned the home page, the Menu page, and the About page. Looking back, I would remove the white background from some of the menu images, and also cut down on the copy for the About page (although that wasn’t part of the assignment).
